1.TAKE CARE OF THE CAR AND THE CAR WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU

2.DO QUICK INSPECTION

Fuel – whether you have enough fuel. If you need to fill up the tank, plan ahead on where or when to do it to avoid from running out of fuel during your journey.

Engine oil – check your engine oil and make sure that it is sufficient. If the engine oil is insufficient although you just service your car, there is a possibility of leakage and hence it need to be fix.

Water–check and add water inside the radiator and windshield washer tank if necessary.

Electrics – Check all the lights especially the brake lights and turn signals. This can be done easier with the help of another person to test the lights.

Rubber – make sure that the tyres are still in good condition has sufficient air pressure. Check you rubber wiper as well. Change if the rubber of the wiper blades has hardened. This step is really important especially in raining season.

 

3.PLAN THE JOURNEY

For long distant and risky journeys (remote places, unfamiliar places, dangerous roads) be sure to inform to inform your family and friends before departing. This helps to let they know your whereabout and make it easier for them to reach out to you.

 

4.KEEP IN TOUCH

Get in touch with your family friends of your location during the journey. Please also inform them if you are experiencing any delays or issues.

 

5.DRIVE IN ALERT OF SURROUNDING

If you're approaching a somewhat dangerous situation (a snatcher usually acts when the traffic light turn red), try to plot any escape plan.

Always leave some gap with the vehicle in front. In a situation where you are threatened by another driver, use you finger to write their vehicle registration number on you car window

You can read it later by releasing your breath on that respective part you wrote. If you happened need to communicate with someone outside the car, just lowered the window down slightly. Avoid from fully open the window.

 

6.IF YOUR CAR BREAK DOWN?

Do not try to fix the damage if you are not familiar about it as it could create more trouble. Make some call to workshops or get some help from someone you know. Do not easily accept favour from strangers as although some might be honest, there is still possibility that the stranger is trying to take advantages of your mishaps.

If the problem happened on the highway, do not wait inside the vehicle because there is a high risk of being hit by other vehicles. Reach out to the highway operator as soon as possible.

7.CHOOSE A SUITABLE PARKING SPACE

Make sure that your parking spot is not too hidden or quiet. Check whether the lighting there is good enough especially at night. The availability of CCTV in the area would be a good advantages.

Please be careful with stuff left in the car and remember not to leave any valuable items in the car. Female drivers is advised to avoid putting women's style of decor as this can attracts the attention of criminals

8.BEWARE OF SURROUNDING

As you are approaching your vehicle, keep you car keys in your hand. Avoid searching for the keys the moment you reached the car. Also beware of the surrounding and check whether your car seems normal before start walking towards your car.

 

9.AVOID PROVOCATION

The driver's attitude usually changes as soon as the driver hold the steering wheel. Try to control your attitude while driving. If there is any drivers try to provoke you, just record their registration number as mentioned above and make a police report

 

10.DON'T PANIC
